Custom Tattoo Design | 4 Elements | Elemental Pentagram
This blog post features a number of designs, created for one client , over a number of years.
The design is spilt into pieces.
Each piece represents one of the elements.
When seen as a whole design, it creates the points of a pentagram.
Each piece is created in the same style, so that it feels part of one whole design. Focusing on geometry & symbolism.
Each piece has the same overall silhouette. Each a mirror image of the other. The leg designs are scaled a little larger than the arm designs.

Final Design
This design features shapes & symbolism related to the element of Water.
The design features waves, an icosahedron, the elemental triangle, impossible triangles, moon, flowing water, frozen water & water molecules
The Sacral Chakra is the 2nd Chakra & is often depicted as a lotus flower with 6 petals.
Many of of the motifs in this design feature 6 sides, points or lines.
This symbol is the top right of a pentagram.
A pentagram, a five sided star, often within a circle, is one of the oldest markings known to humankind. Dating back to Europe as far as 8000 years ago, the pentagram is a symbol fraught with mystery, intrigue, and meaning.
The pentagram is the simplest regular star polygon. The pentagram contains ten points(the five points of the star, and the five vertices of the inner pentagon) and fifteen line segments.

The Icosahedron is the fifth and final platonic solid , having 20 triangular sides.

The Icosahedron is associated with the element of Water and corresponds to the Sacral Chakra.
Water symbolises movement, flow, and change.
It allows for freedom of expression, creativity and movement.
Affirmation : I feel
Petals : 6
Meaning : Creativity | Movement
Energy : Feelings
Colour : Orange
Ruling Planet : Moon

Final Design
This design features shapes & symbolism related to the element of Air.
The design features clouds, octahedron, elemental air triangle, oxygen symbols & molecules.
It is linked to the Heart Chakra; the centre for love, compassion & our spiritual nature.
This chakra is where we access our healing and nurturing aspects.
The Heart Chakra is the 4th Chakra & is often depicted as a lotus flower with 12 petals. It is also associated with a 6 pointed star.
Affirmation : I love
Petals : 12
Meaning : Love | Compassion
Energy : Mentality
Colour : Green
Ruling Planet : Jupiter
This symbol is the top right of a pentagram
The top left of the symbol relates to water.
| Symbolism | The fifth element or quintessence (after "quint" meaning "fifth") is called Aether, which describes that which was beyond the material world |
The third of the platonic solids is the octahedron having 8 triangular sides.
It symbolises the element of Air.
Resting on a point, it signifies the careful balance of multiple forces.
The shape of the Octahedron symbolises reflection, compassion and healing.

Final Design
Left Leg
This design features shapes & symbolism related to the element of Earth.
The design is focused on the cube in various forms. The Earth is symbolised in Sacred Geometry by a cube.
Organic Ivy vines wind amongst the symbolic cube shapes. Cube like tendrils also weave in and out of the design. Geometric mountains also feature in the design.
Earth is linked to the Root Chakra;
Affirmation : I am
Petals : 4
Meaning : Structure | Grounded
Energy : Practicality
Colour : Red
Ruling Planet : Mars
This symbol is the bottom left of a pentagram

Stones associated with the Earth are;
Amethyst, angelite, azurite, celestite, agate (green, moss), cat’s eye, coal, emerald, geodes, halite/salt, jasper, jet, obsidian, olivine, onyx, peridot, quartz & tourmaline.

The Hexahedron sits flat, firmly rooted to its spot, connecting with the earth and nature. It has a solid foundation and symbolises stability and grounding energy.

The design features, lava, flames, tetrahedrons, triangle elemental symbol & pointed suns
It is linked to the Solar Chakra.

Colour : Yellow
Ruling Planet : Saturn
This symbol is the bottom right of a pentagram
Fire: Symbol of love, desire, anger, power, assertiveness, and energy. passion, desire, rebirth, resurrection, eternity, destruction, hope, hell and purification.

The first of the platonic solids is the Tetrahedron having 4 triangular sides.
Tetrahedron: Linked to the Solar Plexus; the centre for personal power and acceptance. It creates the natural balance between the physical and spiritual. Each side sits flat, no matter how it is turned, making it the perfect symbol for balance and stability. It is also linked to creating change.
